Raymond + Chia Wee Pre Wedding

Chia Wee and Raymond are both working in Dubai. During Chinese New Year 2009, they were back for holiday and for their prewedding shoot with me in Penang. We had some casual shots the day before around Batu Ferringhi. On the day of the prewedding shoot, I had the assistance of a good buddy of mine, Sunnysan. Our shooting starts in Cheong Fatt Sze Mansion followed by E & O Hotel. That was my first time shooting prewedding in Penang and hopefully there will be more there as the food are great. Chia Wee really enjoyed the photography session as she was also giving ideas where and how to pose. And her fiancee, as serious as he might look, but as we shoot along, we realized how fun and crappy he could be at times. It was quite tiring when the day ended but I had a great day shooting at Penang, with them both as well as with Sunny.
Here are some shots from this trip to Penang:

One of my fav,

I just loved the color of the grass near the beach…no color adjustment were treated here…

Playing with some textures here…above are two of my favs…

We ended our session at a fishing village…
Chia Wee and Raymond photography session did not actually end here. When they were back to KL before leaving for Dubai, we had another shooting session…and that will be another time another post…
Teik Hong + Bee Lynn 030109

“Whenever there is anything important which happens in my life, on that day it will surely rain.” This was what Teik Hong told me and it came true during their actual day wedding. And it was significant that we have a shoot under the rain to ratify this statement and furthermore signify such an important day in Bee Lynn and Teik Hong’s life.
Bee Lynn and Teik Hong was one of the 3 couples who have signed up with my Valentine’s package in 2008. I shot their lifestyle portraiture back in March 2008 and it remained to be one of my favourite portfolio. And now, I have the honor and pleasure to shoot their actual day wedding. It was also a great pleasure that day to be able to work with another photographer, Anna-Rina. At first, I was quite worried how we were going to work things out on that day but thankfully, we did well working together. I want to thank Anna for covering some shots when I was somewhere else. It was fun working with her as she always make everyone laugh with her witty and fun going character.
That morning, it was drizzling. Actually the rain did not stop until later in late afternoon. I started shooting at Bee Lynn’s place for her preparation. Here are some of the highlights of the day:

Had some go with some textures…

She getting into her gown…

I love it when “spectators” are not shy of my camera. This is how we can capture these shots,
.

the game board…

the eating game…

Arrival of the groom…

while the bride peeping out to look at her husband-to-be…

Teik Hong writing his pledges to Bee Lynn.

Look at that smile on Bee Lynn’s face…so sweet…as Teik Hong unveiled her..

Bee Lynn with the girls…

Teik Hong and the guys…

Back to Teik Hong’s house. I spotted this quote “The New Story” at the back of this guy’s t-shirt and it signified Teik Hong and Bee Lynn’s new beginning (story) as married couple.

Bee Lynn could not control her emotions when her mother-in-law invited her as their daughter into the family.

She changed into her “kuah” during tea ceremony.

Look at those blings blings on the lens!!!

Rain or no rain, we still work! I had Anna to thank for to shelter me from the rain! Thanks Anna!!

For this shot, they had to endure the rain for a few seconds. Thanks guys for doing this even it meant getting your clothes wet!

Shot this in the hotel room’s bathroom in the evening…

I realized there was a angry looking kid at the window after making this shot.

This cake is so pretty! The cake topper actually represented what both Bee Lynn and Teik Hong wore that night.

During champagne popping ceremony…Too bad the cork has blocked out her eyes…but I think it was a cute shot,

Bee Lynn cried again as Teik Hong read a lovely romantic poem to her…

Trying to make them blend into the statues…
It was really great working with the both of you and all the best in your blessed marriage! Hoping to see you guys again…in Australia when I do go there for a shoot!
Mission accomplished!!!

Earlier this year, I said yes to my sister to accept the challenge of climbing Mount Kinabalu with the purpose to raise funds for heart disease patients from Adventist Hospital , Penang. I had some stairs climbing training prior to the climb and it helps. However, during the climb to Laban Rata which was around 6km, I have experienced cramps on both my legs. Fortunately, I managed to overcome it with the help of some climbers and my sister and continued the quest to conquer the submit. The weather during the climb was great and this helped us a lot.
When we reached Laban Rata, we had our dinner and rested. We slept quite early that night as our next climb will begin at 2 in the morning. The temperature during then was 6 degrees Celcius when we started to finish the remaining 2.7km to the submit of Mount K. In total darkness and with the help of our headlights, we just tramped on into the cold, not knowing what lies behind us or at the top of us. For every ten steps, I stopped to take in some air as the air was getting thinner. When we reached 8km, the remaining 700m, I was already excited that I have forgotten about my tired legs and cold hands, but just kept climbing to reach the top. We managed to reach the submit of Mount K (4,095.2m) at Low’s Peak in time to see the sunrise. It was a magnificient view from up there and everything was worth the climb to the top.
After staying up there for about an hour plus, we finally made our descent to Laban Rata. Descending was quite easy but we need to watch out of our knees. In my mind, I knew that I want to climb again to witness such beautiful creation of God from above. If not for my sister’s suggestion, I would not take up this crazy feat of climbing Mount K and I have not regretted it, especially this time for a good cause. Next time round, it will be for fun, pleasure and also photo taking!! Before I continue with the photos, I want to thank those who have donated to this charity event and made this climb possible. A STAR reporter followed us as well during this climb and the article can be found here.
It was not easy carrying the camera bag over my shoulder, and hiking up at the same time! Next time round, must really get myself prepared, physically,
. Enough said, here are some of the photos which I took:

Our ID tag. We must keep this safe while hiking to the submit, if not we are not allow to pass the check point at 7.5km.

A shot taken at Laban Rata when the sun was about to set.

The submit’s view from Laban Rata

Bed of clouds from where we stayed at Gunting Lagadan Hut…From here, you can also the myriad of stars in the skies at night. It was mesmerizing..

Reached Low’s Peak before the sun rise…

The sun rising in the horizons…As the official photographer for this event, I was quite busy shooting the group photos,
. Managed to capture this photo when I was quite free at some point.

Low’s Peak from the angle below when the skies was brighter.

Time to descent…

Sun was up…one of my fav photo…

Donkey’s ears peak…

Another view….

This was shot by my sister…Haha!!! It’s cute!

Regardless of the tiredness… Jump of joy!!!
As a token of appreciation, I will be printing the following photo to be given to those who have donated to me in part of supporting this charity event. Size and printing material will be decided soon. Here is the chosen photo:

Thanks so much for the support!!!
